Andrea

Andrea is a single mom of four who came to the shelter when her roommate sold her home and she had to move. Andrea turned to family because she didn't have the funds to get another place. After loaning money to family members she found herself on the streets. She found her way to the Circle of Hope Family Shelter and entered the Transitional Program in March of 2006. She received her certificate inn Anger Management and managed to save her money with the help of the Savings Program. In November of 2006, Andrea moved into her own apartment in Corona where she still lives and works.




Nancy

Nancy is a single woman who came to us after the clients for whom she was a caregiver passed away. Nancy was having problems with her own health. She stayed a winter in another shelter and her time was almost up when a man told her about us. Nancy entered the Transitional Program in May of 2007. She has received certificates in Anger Management and Life Skills. She also participated in the Savings Program and was able to move out on her own in February of 2008. She now works as a live-in caregiver 5 days a week and spends time with her mother in Rancho Cucamonga.




Dan and Kathy

Dan and Kathy and their two children came to us when their rent was raised to high for them to afford. They entered the Transitional Program in September of 2008. Dan worked as a chef for Cal State Baptist University and Kathy was a stay-at-home mom. Their son was enrolled in school. This family received certificates in Anger Management and Parenting and participated in our Saving Plan. In January 2008, they moved into their home in Riverside, CA. Dan is still working and the family stops by to visit us from time to time.




Denise

Denise is a married woman who entered our Transitional Program in the single women's dorm when her husband was in the hospital recovering from a stroke. She worked at a boy's home while also attending classes at Riverside Community College majoring in Computer Science. Denise was determined to reach her goals with not only her work and studies but also to complete our program successfully. Using our savings account guidelines, she saved enough money to purchase a home with her husband upon his recovery in November 2004.




Jackie

A single mom with her son she entered into the Transitional Program in March 2008. She was searching for a job and receiving assistance from the Gain Program. Our Case Manger assisted Jackie with job leads, childcare providers, and helped her apply for Section 8 Housing. Jackie also attended classes such as Anger Management and Parenting Skills provided by the shelter. She was very determined to meet her goals and was able to save money using our guidelines. Upon completion of our program, Jackie received her Section 8 housing voucher and using her savings they moved into their own apartment in November of 2004.




Kathy

Kathy was a single woman who entered into the Transitional Program in April 2007. She was working as a local bus driver in Corona. She was very determined to meet her goals and start a new life. She was able to save money while using our Savings Program guidelines and bought herself a used car. The remaining money she saved went for a down payment on her own mobile home where she is able to bond with her grown son and granddaughter. She successfully completed our program and moved in December of 2007
