ELIGIBILITY:

The City of Corona requires that all persons receiving services at the Circle of Hope Family Shelter obtain a Service Eligibility Card per the City of Corona Municipal Code 12.25. Applications are available at the Circle of Hope Family Shelter between 4:30 P.M. and 6:30 P.M. daily. Photo identification for each adult is mandatory.



Persons eligible to receive services include:
  • Single women
  • Single parents with children *
  • Married couple with children (Marriage License required)
  • Individuals listed above who receive a Service Eligibility Card
* denotes that parent must present child's Birth Certificate or Social Security Card


Persons not eligible to receive services include:
  • Persons on active Parole
  • Sex Offender Registrant (290 California Penal Code)
  • Narcotic Offender Registrant (11590 California Health & Safety Code)
  • Have active Felony Warrants
  • History of Violence
  • Providing incomplete or false information on the SEC application
  • Refusal to submit to a photograph



Regretfully, we are not able to provide service at the Circle of Hope Family Shelter to individuals who:
  • Are diagnosed with mental illness
  • Are unable to care for themselves
  • Who require drug abuse rehabilitation
PROGRAMS:

EMERGENCY SHELTER SERVICES
Currently, the Circle of Hope Family Shelter has up to fifty (50) sleeping mats available each night.* Emergency shelter is available up to ninety (90) nights per calendar year. Emergency shelter hours begin at 4:30 P.M. Closing hours vary based on availability, usually 6:30 P.M. Dinner is at 5:00 P.M. Showers are available for shelter clients between 6:30 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. Breakfast is provided at approximately 7:00 A.M. All emergency shelter clients must leave the facility by 8:00 A.M. Sack lunches are provided for children.

* Daytime storage for personal belongings is not available.

TRANSITIONAL PROGRAM SERVICES
The Circle of Hope Family Shelter provides a nine (9) month on-site program to qualifying persons. Those persons participating in the transitional program live in dorm style rooms. Participants are required to:

  • Complete assigned chores at the facility
  • Participate in Case Management
  • Attend one, if not all, of the skills classes provided. These classes include Life Skills, Parenting Skills, Financial Management, and Anger Management.
Participants must obtain an income and receive an income within sixty (60) days of entering the Transitional Program. There is a 10% mandatory fee to the shelter. Thirty five percent (35%) of the income earned is required to be deposited into a savings account with the Circle of Hope Family Shelter. The savings are returned to the participant when leaving the Program. Additional Transitional program services include:
  • Homework assistance
  • Tutoring and Story Time for young children
  • Spiritual guidance if requested
